28 days to defeat Walker

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Tonight, I am humbled by and grateful for the support of Wisconsinites across our great state.

Since we began our campaign, I’ve traveled all across Wisconsin — never once leaving our state — to listen to the people.

What I’ve heard from Wisconsinites is that they want an end to the political turmoil caused by Scott Walker, and they want their needs placed first.

With you standing with me, that’s what I plan to do. In the next 28 days, I’ll work overtime fighting for the interests of Wisconsinites, but to do so, I need your urgent help right now to kick-start our neighbor-to-neighbor program.

Can I count on you to make a $12 donation right now so we can defeat Scott Walker on June 5?

Defeating Scott Walker and his entrenched, out-of-state special interest allies will not be an easy task. Right now our campaign is up 47% to 46% in the polls, but we know that Walker and the Koch brothers are ready to unload everything in their right-wing arsenal in a desperate attempt to bring us down.

Scott Walker’s failed agenda has led to unprecedented political turmoil and a sputtering Wisconsin economy that leads the entire nation in job loss.

But while we’ve been campaigning across Wisconsin, Walker has been flying all over the country raising a record $25 million from right-wing billionaires and lobbyists who want their interests placed ahead of working people in our state.

Big money isn’t going to win this fight. You are.

To win on June 5, we will need everyone who participated in this improbable, people-powered movement to band together and work double time talking to their friends, family and neighbors about the choice in this historic election.

With your contribution of $12 right now, you’ll help us defeat Scott Walker and his corporate cash with an unparalleled neighbor-to-neighbor program of people talking to people in their front lawns, in their kitchens, and in their living rooms about the future of our state.

It’s time to put Wisconsin first so we can focus on jobs, on education, and on restoring our tradition of open, honest government.

In the last 15 months, you’ve proved that winning this fight for working people is possible, and I can’t wait to see what you’ll do in the next 28 days to lead us to victory.

Thank you,

Tom Barrett

We know everyone is getting a lot of emails these days, but we just have to tell you about this.

With just 32 days to go until the June 5th election, Walker has been cashing checks left and right from out-of-state donors. Walker just hauled in another $13 million dollars, with two thirds coming from outside Wisconsin!

In total, Walker has taken in over $25 million dollars since November.

Walker knows he can’t be honest with us about his record of jobs failure, so he is trying to drown out the truth and buy this election.

Chip in $12 bucks now and show Walker that Wisconsin is not for sale!

Walker is not only trying to buy the election, but he is also paying legal bills to his criminal defense lawyers. Scott Walker stands alone as the only Governor in Wisconsin history to have a criminal defense fund. Just the other day, Walker slipped his defense team another $60,000 dollars! Clearly Walker is worried that the ongoing John Doe investigation is inching closer to his office by the day.

The Walker administration is giving Wisconsin a bad name. You can support the recall effort AND show you stand with the people of Wisconsin with our new VOTE WALKER OUT and STAND WITH WOMEN signs! Visit our website to check out the store, and pick some up today!

United Wisconsin is committed to getting voters informed and to the polls. On May 8th, Wisconsin voters will choose the candidate to take on Scott Walker in the June 5th election. For all the information you need, visit our BE A VOTER page.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

United Wisconsin is putting on an exciting event May 19th at 8pm at the Barrymore Theater in Madison. We will be joined by some cutting edge political comics that will get you fired up for the recall! Visit our website for details and tickets for what will surely be a great night of politics and laughter! All proceeds go to the recall efforts.

Can’t wait to see you on the 19th!

One World Trade Center becomes New York City’s tallest skyscraper today.

Formerly called the “Freedom Tower,” the building rising to replace the twin towers destroyed in the Sept. 11 attacks will lay claim to the title of New York City’s tallest skyscraper today. Workers will erect steel columns that will make its unfinished skeleton a little over 1,250 feet high, just enough to peak over the roof of the observation deck on the Empire State Building.
The Empire State Building, measured from the sidewalk to the tip of its needle-like antenna, actually stands at 1,454 feet. But purists say antennas shouldn’t count when determining building height.

Beautiful! I’m so happy for New Yorkers! What a great symbol to say to the world that they can kick us down but we will rise back up even taller!

From Huffington Post:

In a heartwarming sign of the post-“Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” era, one gay marine was greeted with a romantic wedding proposal as he returned to San Diego’s Camp Pendleton this week.

As San Diego LGBT Weekly is reporting, Cory Huston — himself a Navy veteran once assigned to the Marines as a hospital corpsman — dropped to one knee before asking U.S. Marine Avarice Guerrero, who was returning home from a long deployment, to marry him. It’s believed to be the first proposal of marriage and engagement between two gay men, not to mention two war vets, on a U.S. military base, according to the publication.

“I was blown away,” Guerrero gushed of his new fiancee. “I was shocked that after all we’d been through, he would honestly want to spend the rest of his life with someone like me.”

A nervous Huston told LGBT Weekly called his decision “a huge step” before Guerrero’s arrival.

For those who follow this blog…. I so sorry I haven’t update much over the past 3 weeks. I have been so busy with planning my trip and with other family functions, etc… I haven’t made much of an effort as I did when I started this. I will have 23 days of solitude and relaxation coming up, and plan on writing every day. My hope is to get this blog back to where it was. Thanks for hanging in there and please check back. It will get better again! Peace & Love, Daniel

Nearly 200,000 petition signers are not registered to vote.

That is 200,000 Wisconsin citizens that want Walker out of office. If we get them registered, we can win.

United Wisconsin is taking this challenge head on. We all know that to recall Scott Walker, each and every Wisconsinite must make their voice heard on election day.

We cannot take any chances.

We only have 40 days until the recall election. Chip in a donation so United Wisconsin can reach its goal of $48,000 dollars to get each and every Wisconsinite informed and registered to vote.

This weekend, United Wisconsin is hitting the streets of Milwaukee County, where almost 44,000 petition signers are unregistered. We are going door-to-door to meet with citizens who are ready to reverse Walker’s failed policies. We are getting them the information they need to participate in our democracy.

By making a donation, you are making a difference in the recall election. Please help make this effort a success.

Walker knows that this grassroots movement is seeing through his lies, so he is relying on his millions of out-of-state dollars to stop us. In fact, he just took another million dollars from the Koch Brothers!

Walker’s elite donors think they can buy Wisconsin. Let’s show them that this state is NOT FOR SALE!

We need to reach our goal to combat Walker’s money machine. Chip in what you can afford to reclaim Wisconsin.

Thank you for all you do,

-Your Friends at United Wisconsin
